Nine days. More than 500 exhibitors. Over 50,000 visitors who came to try, compare and buy. The Toronto International Boat Show, January 16 to 24, 2027 at the Enercare Centre, is one of the biggest consumer shows in the country, and it rewards the exhibitors who plan their booth staff as carefully as their boat lineup.
Here is what makes this show different, how many people you need, and how to keep your booth sharp from opening Saturday to the last Sunday.

Quick answer
Most boat show booths need two to four staff at a time, with more on weekends and Thursday’s late night. Over nine days, plan a rotation so nobody works the whole show. Trained brand ambassadors greet, qualify and book appointments, so your sales team spends its time with serious buyers.
Why the Toronto Boat Show is a different kind of show
This is a buying show. Dealers bring their best boats and their best offers, and many visitors arrive having already shortlisted a few models. Others come with the family for the indoor lake, the seminars and the Kids Zone, and decide on the spot that this is the year they buy.
That mix is the challenge. Your booth gets serious buyers, curious families and dreamers all at once, and the people working it need to tell them apart in a few seconds without being rude to anyone.

How many booth staff do you need?
It depends on your space and what you are selling, but these are good starting points:
- Small booth (gear, accessories, services): two staff on weekends, one or two on weekdays.
- Dealer space with several boats on display: three to four staff on weekends, two to three on weekdays, plus your own sales team.
- Large manufacturer or dealer floor: a team lead plus enough staff to have one person at each boat during peak hours.
The two Saturdays, both Sundays and Thursday’s late night are your busiest stretches. Weekday afternoons are quieter, which makes them the best time for longer conversations with serious buyers.
The roles that matter most
Greeters and lead capture staff. They stop people at the edge of your space, ask two or three quick questions and capture contact details. At a nine day show, a good lead list is often worth more than the sales you close on the floor.
Boat boarding hosts. On a busy Saturday, there is a line to step aboard. A host keeps it moving, answers the easy questions and hands serious buyers to your sales team. Access to the boats is at each dealer’s discretion, so your hosts follow your rules on who boards and when.
Product specialists. For engines, electronics, docks or gear, a brand ambassador briefed on your product can run demos and explain features, so your experts are free for the bigger conversations.
Team lead. For larger spaces, one person who manages breaks, keeps the booth tidy and solves problems means you never have to leave a buyer mid conversation.
Planning nine days of staff
Nine days is long. Even great staff lose their energy by day six if they work every shift. A few things help:
- Rotate. Build two or three teams that share the show, so everyone is fresh.
- Keep the same faces on key days. Buyers who visit on the first weekend often come back on the second. It helps when someone recognizes them.
- Brief once, properly. A clear written brief before day one (your boats, your offers, how to log leads) saves you from repeating yourself every morning.
- Plan for the commute. Exhibition Place parking adds up over nine days, and the show itself is cashless for parking and food. Good agencies plan staff travel and include it in the quote.
What to look for in a boat show staffing agency
Ask any agency you compare:
- Have your staff worked a large consumer show before?
- Can you provide backup staff if someone is sick on day five?
- Who manages breaks and scheduling on site?
- How will leads be captured and handed to us?
